Owl
Description
An owl looking straight at you – acrylic on canvas, 70 × 100 cm, painted in 2022. I draw birds in my own way, breaking up planes and splitting volumes, but they must stay recognisable at first glance: here the owl is cut out of a dark brown ground by a single white line, with orange eyes, pink cheeks and a speckled chest in soft blues, lilac and grey.
I admire birds’ colours, and when I paint I don’t hesitate to push that intensity further. The original has found its home; this print is reproduced from it.
