Favourite Heels
Description
Favourite Heels is my first painting on canvas, from 2010, and one of the closest to my heart: it shows my own favourite pair of high heels. The idea came at home, and I decided the shoes would sit at the top of the painting, in a place of honour. The legs are set apart from the space by a broad white-and-blue contour; bold strokes and a cold palette make the red heels stand out, and the heels and the figure complete each other into one self-confident woman.
Women and femininity are the main theme of my work – a favourite pair of shoes, a classic lipstick always at hand, the little black dress for any occasion. Acrylic on canvas, 70 × 100 cm. The original was shown at my exhibitions Red is Not Blue (2012) and Beauty Supplements (2013) and is not for sale; this print is reproduced from it.
