I’ve been watching seagulls for a long time – sometimes drawing them, sometimes painting them. The more I observe them, the more clearly I see that birds, too, have distinct faces and moods. This time, the heroine of my painting is a curious seagull. As I studied her, she watched me from the corner of her eye – and, it seemed, smiled.
