Rain
Description
I painted Rain in 2010 (acrylic on paper, 50 × 70 cm), at the start of my own path, away from the academy’s influence. It shows fragments of a man’s silhouette: clear strokes, colour fields set against each other, a face built from planes with one bright green eye. The painting is grey-blue, its shadow side made of dimmed blues, and the red and green accents give it even more character.
Many people see in it a face reflected in a window in the rain; it holds many stories – find your own. The original hangs in a private villa in Toulouse, among antique oak furniture: a young couple chose it for their wedding and, after moving there from Paris, gave it the white wall of their living room.
