Italian Silk is a pop art-style woman’s portrait that was acclaimed internationally at the prestigious Saatchi and Arsia galleries. A reproduction of this painting may decorate your home as well – it will add subtle elegance to either your bedroom or bathroom.

According to Agne, the artist of the piece, ideas for paintings often appear spontaneously: you are at a ballet or opera, enjoying a concert or watching a performance and an idea pops up by itself. Inspiration for the painting Italian Silk came from attending an haute couture fashion show. A woman radiant with an attention-catching femininity stepped onto the runway. The silk slid around her body, clinging to every curve of her figure. Therefore, to Agne, the name of the painting was obvious. Agne remembers allowing herself to play with the details courageously while painting – the final piece was born of both images of memory and creative interpretations.

The face in the woman’s portrait is rather abstract with undefined features formed by shadows. It is not dominant in this painting – it steps aside and lets the intrigue hiding between the pleats of soft Italian silk that envelopes the woman’s body shine through.

The painting exudes femininity and was exhibited in Agne’s personal exhibition Beauty Supplements (at the Merchants Club in Vilnius), the selective group exhibition 40 Generations of Design (Baroti Gallery in Klaipeda), the Juskus Gallery exhibition Art for Home 2014 (DOMUS Gallery), and the exhibition Furniture (LITEXPO Exhibition Centre). The piece was mentioned in many publications in the Lithuanian and foreign media, and the original was eventually bought by collectors from California from the Saatchi Gallery.

The artist remembers that she was surprised at how smoothly the painting of the piece went. Usually the finished image is left to rest for a week and then adjusted. But this time it was different; the piece was painted all at once over the course of a week, and when the artist came back to it later, she saw that she didn’t need to change anything.
