Agne Kisonaite, the artist, says that she did not even need a sketch for this work – the drawing that emerged from her imagination was so clear that was laid down directly on canvas. Usually in Agne‘s paintings the image behind the characters being painted is flat, but this is an exceptional case, an illusion of perspective is created in the background. The details chosen – the expressive fragment of woman's silhouette, the puppy's pose, and its gaze directed at its owner – give the piece a playfulness and light sense of irony.
This painting is about beauty, aesthetics and commitment. Many of us are ready to bend over backwards to embody aesthetic flawlessness.
