Boy with a Spacesuit and the Rocket
One day I was working in my studio and my son Henris wanted to join me.
Description
One day I was working in my studio and my son Henris wanted to join me. He painted a traveller with a suitcase, a spot of red sun and drops of rain. To me the picture looked rather empty, so I painted his portrait on top of it, keeping the traveller, the sun and the raindrops. He kept asking to be painted with a spacesuit and a rocket – a challenge, since I don’t draw comics, but the spacesuit, a hint of a helmet and the rocket got there.
Earthy tones, with the pink stroke of the suit, the rocket and red elements for a playful, vibrant feel, and abstract patterns next to precise ones. A bright, playful painting made by me and my son, light-hearted like childhood itself. Acrylic on canvas, 50 × 60 cm, 2021. This print is reproduced from the original.
